There are thousand of iPhone apps available on the app store. Over the past couple of months I have downloaded countless free or Lite apps and a handful I’ve actually decided to pay for. Over the next few weeks, I will break each of the following apps (and a few others) down in a more in depth review. For now though, here are my 5 favorite apps.
1. Slotz Racer - While there isn’t much to this game as far as controls, it is a great throwback to the classic slot track racing game many of us had as kids. It costs a couple of bucks, but it is well worth the money for the hours of entertainment it provides.
2. Twittelator - I’ve tried most of the Twitter apps available for the iPhone and think Twittelator is the most comprehensive. It comes in both a free and pro version. I used the free version (ad supported) for a while before deciding to go with pro.
3. Google - Even with Google search built-in to Safari, I find myself using this app as my go to for searching. The built in links to all of their mobile web apps makes it a must have for me. It certainly makes my life easier.
4. The Weather Channel - It is exactly what you would expect, but it is leaps and bounds more useful than the weather app Apple included.
5. Pandora - Since you already know about my love affair with Pandora as a service, I won’t bore you with any of that on the app. A perfect little free app that should be on everyones phone.

Not yet my dear friend, but you will soon see the beloved Adobe application on most smartphones. At the 2009 GSMA Mobile World Congress this week in Barcelona, Adobe announced the lightweight Flash Player 10 that will bring much of the same desktop functionality to the phone. A vast improvment over the struggling Flash Light that just doesn’t provide the full functionality we all desire from our devices. In early 2010, expect to see phones with Windows Mobile, Google Android, Nokia S60, and the Palm garnishing the new Flash player.
iPhone lovers will have to continue to wait as the new version of Flash is still incompatible. The standard line of “the two comapanies are working together” is all any Adobe or Apple officials are willing to say about the situation. Whatever the case, Apple better work to get it in gear. While the iPhone is a magnificent device, unmatched in elegance and style, the draw away from the phone do to functionality is getting more and more compelling. Apple’s saving grace right now is the App Store with an unmatched collection of niche programs that provide users with any and every advanced funtiionality they can imagine. This certainly begs the question; how long are iPhone users willing to wait for basic functionality?

Pandora Internet Radio is definitely one of my favorite ways to listen to music. The service is free (with ad support) or you can pay $36 per year if you don’t like ads. Continue Reading

The iPhone is amazing. What is even more amazing is the development community that keeps cranking out unbelievable applications to take advantage of it. Don’t get me wrong, you can find a ton of crap in the App Store as well. To each is own though and I am sure there are people out there that are going to download Zit Picker. I am defiantly not one of them. While spending time on twitter, I came across Ustream. I recall seeing some information on this site before but really didn’t pay attention. I will now. Ustream.TV is the live interactive video broadcast platform that enables anyone with a camera and an Internet connection to quickly and easily broadcast to a global audience of unlimited size. What is even better, some lucky iPhone users can now beta test this application. “We have a limited number of beta invites/testers. Email iphone@ustream.tv to get Ustream’s viewing application on your iPhone.” So go and sign up. You will be able to watch the Inauguration LIVE on Ustream with chat.
“Over the last two years, Ustream has had the privilege to work closely with President Elect Obama’s campaign. We stream speeches, we streamed townhalls, and we even had the honor to stream his victory speech.
History will be made Jan 20th, and you will all be able to watch this LIVE on Ustream. As always, our interactive chat will be there to make this experience more of a social experience.
If you are not going to fight the traffic in DC and the pat downs from the secret service, then watch the inauguration of fellow Ustreamer, President Barack Obama, with me.”

So there’s been tons of buzz lately about a new, snaller version of the most popular phone on the market, the Apple iPhone. Rumors flew earlier in the year that this product would be released before Christmas, but with 2 days until Santa slids down the chimney, the only way of that happening will be a Christmas Miricle.

iPhone Nano & iPhone Shuffle
The fuel to this fire seems to come from XSKN who produces high-end covers for iPods, iPhones, and many other devices. Before many Apple launches, they have “broken” the story and put up renderings of new products before anyone knew. Some beleived this was just a publicity stunt, but they’ve been right before. If you check out their website you will plainly see they have iPhone Nano labeled as a category. Whether they are just hoping to get into the game early or if they have a good source, we won’t know for awhile.
This also makes us here at Go Go Gadget Boy wonder if the less loud rumors of an iPhone Shuffle may also come to fruition? If this was 2 years ago, I think there’d be a good chance, where tiny phones were IT. Now people are realizing that small phones are ridiculously hard to text on and not much fun to find.
